Youth and Outreach Coordinator - Canadian Jesuits International (CJI)

Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) is the overseas development agency of the Jesuits in English Canada. Working with local partners in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, CJI supports programs in education, health, agriculture, human rights, pastoral care and emergency relief. We raise awareness among Canadians about the causes of injustice and poverty in the Global South.
Post-DOC: UC Berkeley - Slum Health Equity fellowship
UC Berkeley is now accepting applications for post-doctoral fellows and PhD students interested in studying slum-related health topics/ challenges that include issues addressing the social determinants of health equity, such as urban planning, environmental exposures, non-communicable diseases, mental health, and others. The fellowship is part of a new program at Berkeley funded by the NIH/Fogarty International Center, Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars, which will be called the Global Health Equity Scholars (GHES) fellowship at UC Berkeley. This program supports a one-year mentored research fellowship for trainees to study slum-related health topics/challenges. Fellows will spend eight to ten months in low-resource settings at one of the consortium’s ten program project sites. The first group of trainees is anticipated to be enrolled by September 2012. PhD position: Global Politics of Pesticide Regulation
We are looking for a PhD candidate in global politics of agriculture, environment, and health. This PhD project will study international governance initiatives (mostly FAO-WHO-UNEP related) that focus on the improvement of pesticide risk regulation in developing countries. The research will study the relationships between businesses and regulatory bodies, claims about ownership and confidentiality of information submitted, the function of science advisory bodies, the level where regulatory decisions are made, and the role of developing countries in informational pesticide governance. Applicants should have a prior degree in political science, anthropology, political ecology, development studies, political economy, or related field. This is a four year PhD project. Gross salary will increase from € 2042 per month in the first year up to € 2612 per month in the fourth year (with additional terms of employment). The successful candidate will be based at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and carry out field work in places such as India, Costa Rica, Brussels, and Rome. The Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR).
The 3rd edition of the CDRR seeks to strengthen the competences of practitioners in the field of disaster risk reduction in the context of climate change. The program favors an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to the issue, concentrating on the reduction of vulnerabilities and the strengthening of the capacities of populations at risk.
