CASID Regional Events
For the past three years, the CASID has invited its members across Canada to submit proposals to organize CASID-sponsored Regional Events focused on international development. The purpose of this initiative is threefold: to attract new members to CASID, to increase CASID’s profile in the region, and to promote the study of international development across Canada. Events should aim to bring faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and development practitioners together to share knowledge, research topics and experience in international development. Accepted proposals qualify for funding from CASID to cover logistic costs and/or speaker fees for their event.
The Call-for-Proposals to hold a CASID regional event is released in the Fall semester, to receive proposals to hold conferences between January and August of the following year. The proposals are peer-reviewed by members of the CASID Executive Committee, and are decided on 2-3 weeks following the deadline for proposals. Successful applicants receive their funding upon submission of original receipts detailing expenses and a completed narrative report of the event. Events are advertised both on the CASID website, as well as the CASID listserv.
Funding for the CASID Regional Events program is provided by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
